Yasmin Alibhai-Brown: Who'd be female under Islamic law?

Why would a person stick with a religion which hates them? Why wouldn't a woman just leave? I just don't get this.

Why would a person stick with a religion which hates them? You mean like following Christian groups which refuse women the right to be priests? The Christian Union group at my university didn't allow women to be president (of a university society ffs!).

People follow their religion because they've grown up with it and/or they believe in it.

Of course, pretty much all religions have treated women badly during their history and all religions have their reformers.
